It's the most wonderful time of the year....

Actually, summer is by far my favorite time of the year. However, it will be awesome to have two weeks of paid leave (not coming out of my two week annual vacation - my job is awesome!). I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends and getting to catch up on The Young and the Restless. I just love that show. Last night I worked out really hard, so proud of myself, and then went to have fried chicken and vegetables at one of my favorite country cookin' places. I got food poisoning! It was awful and I spent the rest of the evening in the bathroom :[

I got the best news....really all I want for Christmas....my annoying roommate is moving out!! I had about enough of her (always having a hard time coming up with her rent, using everything that was mine - toilet paper, my tampons, my body lotion, napkins, papertowels, cleaning stuff, dish detergent, laundry detergent, and NEVER contributing....) and I told her that in July my situation would be changing and I wanted to give her enough time to find another arrangement. She said "oh, you didn't get my text?" and I said, "no, what text?" She then informed me that she had sent me a text to let me know that she found somewhere cheaper to live. Yippee!! She will be moving out while I am gone on break so I will come home to an empty house. I know to be more financially savvy I should get another roommate, but I have set a budget and have been being very very good with my money, so I think I'll be OK without her. I am just going to cut back rather than have the headache of another roommate. At age 24 I have had several roommates in the college years and now I am grownup and I am just through. I can't take the hassle again. I am turning her room into a guest room. So happy.

I wasn't going to put up a tree, but I did. My Christmas stuff this year is brown and gold. Amber (who hopefully will be watching the pets when I travel for work now that I lost said annoying roomate) helped me.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I am super excited about the New Year....2008 has not been my best year by a long shot and I'm so ready for a new beginning.

Rosalita at Old Folks Home....

After the last Christmas parade I rode in I visited the Old Folks Home. I guess the more PC (politically correct, at work we call it PC) term is Assisted Living, maybe? Anyways, they LOVE when animals visit and Trinket in all her prissiness likes to bite sometimes so I took my Mom's chihuahua. I love Mom's chihuahua so much. Mom got Rosalita ( I call her Ro) when I was in 8th grade. I got Trinket because I liked Mom's chihuahua so much. I can't get enough of chihuahuas, they are a lot of love in a little package. Yorkies are pretty cute too, but I have enough on my plate fixing my own hair, I couldn't handle all that hair they have. Anyways, Ro did really good at the Old Folks home. She was super sweet with everyone. Let me be honest, it's not my favorite "appearance" if you will. I like the Children's Hospital much more, even though, seriously it's much sadder. I mean sick children are a lot more difficult to think about because it's so unfair, compared to someone in an Old Folks home who has lived a full life. I guess a lot of it has to do with the environment. The Children's Hospital I visit is clean and bright and very, very colorful. There are lots of toys and arts and crafts. The toy room is jungle theme and has framed children's artwork on the walls. I guess it's just that it's such a wonderful hospital and so well staffed that makes visiting there so great. The staff there is amazing, very upbeat nurses. And of course you can't help but fall in love with all the children you meet. The old folks home has always seemed a little eery to me and it is sadder to visit for some reason. The staff there seem like they don't really care and I can almost understand their lack of enthusiasim because some of the patients are difficult (like the woman who, when I was walking down the hall with a nurse said "look at them, they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves" of course, gigglebox that I am, I thought it was funny). It's kind of dark in there always too quiet. Well, hopefully they enjoyed Rosalita. Anyways, here's me and Ro....

Almost time to celebrate....

I only have today, tomorrow, and then two days next week and I'm off for Christmas! I will be home for two weeks (almost) and I'm so excited about that. I guess really not home, since I have a home of my own here (well, rent a home of my own, lol), but visiting my Mom's house. I am looking forward to spending some time with family, a visit from friends in Baltimore, seeing Ashley (my college roommate), probably cheating on my diet (bad!), and of course, being off during the day and being able to watch The Young and the Restless. I love that show!

Tomorrow I have a modeling job of sorts. I will be photographed for a friend of a friend's portfolio. One of my friends knows someone trying to start up a photography business that was looking for models to begin their portfolio and my friend thought I'd be just the person to ask. I think it will be a good time. I tanned in prepartion. I went ahead and got a 3 month VIP package so I can be tan for this weekend, for my new heashots (very excited about this photographer - she's really good) and be tan for my next pageant in March. This time of year makes it really hard to stick to a nutrion scheme and my class at the gym won't be meeting again until after the holidays. Agh!

I went to the MD and tested for ADD and now get an Adderall prescription. I took it yesterday, and man oh man, I think I got more done yesterday than I usually do in a year! Seriously, probably a week worth's a work got completed yesterday. Why couldn't I have had this in college? No wonder it took me 5 and 1/2 years to get a Bachelors....

I have found my dress for state!! So excited. I look like a hot mess in this picture, I had just babysat teenagers overnight. Also keep in mind it is way way too big and will be altered to fit. My friend at the dress shop also suggested we make the skirt sheer as to show my legs and I think that would look good. This dress shas A LOT of fabric and we will be removing some of that for a slimmer look.
Lastly, here is me in a Christmas Parade, and Trinket wearing her new holiday sweater. It has snowflakes on it.

Have a good Thursday!

My Two Cents..........

Sunday when I went out for groceries, I stopped by the mall to do a little Christmas shopping. I went into Victoria's Secret (who can resist a quick peek inside?) and got the most comfortable yoga pants I have ever put on. I love them! They weren't very pricy either (20.00 with my $10 Off Coupon). They are actually long enough for me too, and don't ride up and become highwaters when I'm in the gym. I like them so much, I went online today, and they have USC pants!! Now THAT is going on my Chirstmas list for sure.

I usually try not to tan this time of year - because who really cares if you have a tan in the winter? I've always thought it was kind of silly looking (or like the stereotypical Jersey Shore Girl) to have a big bronze going on this time of year. However, after seeing myself in the Christmas Parade, looking like the Ghost of Christmas's Past I have got to go join a tanning bed. Especailly since I'm getting new headshots done right after Christmas. I posted a pic of the horror and one of me about to take Trinket for her walk. a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQfkHtO192x8z8pQoSX9EuXgPHbwsRUSV9PUYlxJt2Ry_7mT69LaccJP1jRY9dR4V7cm3T0j-oktRENZ2r9dSBmI51RvFNpnGl6QGV-xhk_G0cnTwEwXq5mgJzX4JpKXZIIxKM9iaVdJ1a/s1600-h/hair+002.jpg">

This is just for laughs....hey, I think I saw this family at the jockey lot!

Parade!

The Christmas Parade was awesome! I got to present Santa with a key to the city. The entire parade was televised. My only regret was not using more styliing product on my hair...it looked like a hot mess by the end of the parade. It was both freezing and somehow surprisingly humind and somewhat windy at the same time. Only in South Carolina do you find this weather combination. I felt like by the end of the parade my hair was frizzy, tangled, and flat. A really bad combination, but with any luck, no one was close enought to notice and hopefully the cameras didn't zoom in too close to me either. My friend with Smashbox cosmetics did my makeup and it turned out really, really well. She just opened the first ever Smashbox counter in SC and I have to say I loved the makeup! I'm addicted. I also probably should have tanned some as I look like the Ghost of Christmas! I'll have to go lay a few times before I get my new headshots for state.

Work is awesome and we are gearing up for a very exciting 2009! I am so richly blessed by God to get the AMAZING opportunity to work in HIV Prevention!!! Well, awesome except for budget cuts....but I guess each day brings it's own challenges....

A Recipe and a "No - Go"

Tonight I'm making pizza dip. One of my good work friends gave me this recipe and it's supposed to be out of this world. Let me add, however, it's not part of my nutrition scheme for the state pageant! LOL...

1 Block of cream cheese (I used 2 of everything)
1 jar of pizza sauce
1 small onion
1 jar of black olives
1 bag of mozerella cheese

Put in a baking dish in the over, turned ontooo 350, for about 25 minutes. Put the cream cheese in first, then the pizza sauce, onion, and black olives, and lastly the shredded cheese. Serve with tortilla chips.

The dresses I posted a few days ago were both no-gos. The black dress didn't WOW my director and the cocktail was too teen. I think the black dress isn't as stunning as it could be because I have dark hair. I think it would look better on a blonde. I am going to try and find a white dress. I like this....

Uggg.......

I broke down and ordered Proacitv. I used it a few years ago and had a lot of success with it, so I'm hoping I will have similar success with it this time around. I just can't go to state with my skin looking like this.

I hit the gym yesterday, and man-oh-man am I sore today. I went running once over the Thanksgiving holiday, but didn't do any lifting. Today I just feel like "ugggg". Right now I really want to get one of my friends to meet me at Ruby Tuesday after work for a mini burger and fries. So NOT on my diet....

The good news is I've found my dress and cocktail dress for opening # so some of the hard work is done! I love this photo...two of the prettiest girls ever. Monica Pang was Miss Georgia 2005 and First Runner Up to Miss America 2006. This was the year Jennifer Berry won. Her talent was dance. I love how this photo captures that "moment"...and what a good moment that is when you hear your name announced as the winner!!!

Out with the Old, In with the New....

I found my dress for state! I may have even found the cocktail dress for the opening number as well! To help pay for this I am selling a midnight blue dress on eBay. So far I have put it on auction 2X with no luck, but this time I lowered the price to $150, so hopefully I'll have a buyer. I won't sell for lower than that, it just isn't worth it to me. I'd rather have the dress (in case I ever need to wear it, which isn't likely) or Cinderella project it. Mom is supposed to be sending some gowns from high schools proms and pageants to Cinderella project for me. The black dress is my dress for state...I think it's a winner!!

Let me add, Thanksgiving really derailed me from my pageant fitness program! I'm back on track with eating right, sleeping, and hitting the gym this week. Last night I made egg salad (with fat free sour cream, not mayo) to bring for lunch this week. Slowly but surely, I'm getting back into the swing of it. So, if you are PR don't call to talk about BUTTER!! LOL, just teasing, call to talk about gourmet butter anytime :-D

I want it....

I have an obsession with the QVC...I mean, it's just awesome. I can kill hours watching QVC. One of my freinds from college works for QVC, which I think is stupendous. I love how everyone on QVC is so excited and animated. I have a real love of beauty products, cosmetics, and bath products. I saw this little treat recently, and behold it even comes in a Gamecock garnet! The Beautyrest Luxury Cozy Plush electric blanket. Having grown up around a fire fighter (my grandfather) we were never allowed to have electric blakets (or real Christmas trees for that matter) because they were a fire hazard. I am extremely afraid of leaving on an appliance and burning the house down with my pets inside, but becuase I am so afraid of that, I am very responsible and never leave anything on. I trust myself to have this little gem of a blankie. PR has this one of his wish list :

Thanksgiving

I am up to my elbows in paperwork (although it is a "work at home" day). I had to come into the office because the work I needed to complete required using the scanner and fax machine. I'm hoping to bust out of here early because no one is here and I have to get my hair color touched up. My natural hair is brown. Just plain brown...not rich, not chocolate, not warm...just brown. Lucky I know how to take care of that! I can't wait to get "fresh hair". Nothing like it! I'm also looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with the family and spending the weekend with my best friend J. My friend Joy shared this funny pic with me......Happy Thanksgiving!

History Lesson?

For a few months now I've been trying to plan a trip up to Baltimore to see two of my best friends. I was talking on the phone with one of them a few nights ago and he mentioned that he had always wanted to see where Lincoln is shot. I suggested that when I do finally make it up there (spring! I'm hoping for April.....) we could take a train to DC and visit the theatre. I have been there before, on a class trip in the spring of 1998. I can remember this trip so vividly that it blows my mind it has been 10 years!!! I came accross this on the internet and thought I would share it. Mostly, it's for PR, who enjoys this sort of thing. I personally think A) the person who wrote this has too much time on their hands and B) stuff like this has always seemed way too eerie for me. It's interestig nonetheless.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846
John F. Kennedy was elected to congress in 1946

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960

Both were particularly concerned with Civil Rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday, and both were shot in the head.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1939.

BOTH assassins were known by their three names...
both composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the Ford theater.
Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln car made by Ford.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Friday Devotional - something to think about

I usually blog about silly stuff but today I thought I would do a devotional type post. This is something that has been on my mind with Christmas right around the corner and tons of commercials on TV about giving and getting. When I was in college I worked at the mall and I remember how much it stole my Christmas spirit and put me in a bad mood to deal with all the shoppers. Givng and getting is NOT the point of Christmas. Spending precious quality time with family and remembering Jesus' birth is. Does anyone really need more stuff? I know there really isn't any item that I need. My actual needs are pretty basic: food for myself, dogfood (which I feel like I buy every time I turn around!), power and gas for my home, etc. It's wants that everyone focuses on this time of year. Sure, there are things that I want, but I don't really need them. More things does not make you a happier person. I'm not sure where this quote is from or where I first heard it but this is what I am thinking about today: "The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything they have" It is so easy to watch commercails and see things in the mall and think you need them. That's how commericalism and marketing works! I know I'm guilty - it's worked on me plenty of time! I rent a basic older brick home in a nice neighborhood and I'm always thinking of how when I buy a house (hopefully in a few years) it's going to be so much nicer. When I'm in Atlanta for work I see all these beautiful homes and think how much I love would to live in one. I'm always imagining fancy granite counters and an island in my kitchen instead of the basic plastic counters I use now. Visions of big walk in closets dance in my head. Will that really make me a better person or a happier person? No, of course not. Just something I'm thinking about today...

Did she just say what I thought she said!?

In the past year I've kind of become one of those people that says "Nothing surprises me anymore" and really, not much does. The other day I was at a Children's Hospital doing some volunteer work and something did catch me off gaurd. Let me put a DISCLAIMER here: I am in no way making fun of or writing anything cruel about a sick child, I am only sharing my surprising story. So I'm playing with some sick children, and with one little girl in particular. She was about 5 years old. She was more hyper than probably any child I have ever dealt with in my long babysitting career or in visiting the Chilren's Hospital. After several failed attempts to get her interested in different games (CandyLand, Connect 4...) she finally got started playing with the dollhouse in the playroom and seemed to be enjoying it so I just sat back and watched. There were both of both races (white and black) in the dollhouse. I noticed that she immediately separated the dolls by their race. She then put all the white dolls in the little car they have and said that they were going to Wal-Mart but the black dolls couldn't come because they were black! I nearly fell out of my chair! What do you even do when you hear something like that?

I think I have the decorating bug...take a look at these...I love the pink bedroom and I love the wallpaper, even if it is a bit much. I think I'm about to install a gate between the kitchen (where I like to confine the big dogs so they don't get on my furniture) and the rest of the house. The babygate from Wal-Mart just insn't cutting it anymore.

Last night Varsity Blues was on TNT. That movie came out when I was in high school and reminds me of high school so so much. This song does, too. Senior year, I think?

Pink it's my new obsession Pink it's not even a question

I remember when the Aerosmith song "Pink" came out. It is on the 9 Lives album, which was released in 1997. I was in the 8th grade. Hard to believe it's been 10 years!! Middle school rocked, mostly 7th and 8th grade (I was new from a small Catholic school in 6th). My best friend was a girl named Victoria, and we had so much fun. She went to a different high school and became really, really artistic and we lost touch.

Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE pink. Today I was playing around on the internet and found these pics of Betsy Johnson's apartment. LOVE IT!! I want to do more decorating in a few years when I buy my own place. In addition to pink, I'm loving animal prints more than ever right now. I'm currently on the search for leopardskin print gloves (have zebra gloves already) and an animal print (either leopard or zebra) shower curtain. Since I painted my bathroom purple I want to do animal print accents.

Morgan and Me

I CAN'T WAIT to go see this: http://marleyandmemovie.com/

Just watching the trailer made me laugh. Believe me, raising a lab puppy is NO JOKE. Morgan was a terrible puppy. She tore up anything and everything and doesn't care when she gets in trouble. Really, try scolding Morgan and she has no resonpse. Any other dog we have ever had will respond to a verbal scolding, but not Morgan. All that being said, for whatever reason, she was a blast when she was a puppy.

Yesterday I walked her to the park. I really need to do better and pick up the pace when we do it this afternoon. I have to remember, there is a swimsuit portion in the pageant in March...

I watched TrueBlood with my favorite girls last night and it just keeps getting better and better! The only things that is better is having girl time!

On that note, I've got to get back to work....2009 is shaping up to be a big big year!

On Dating and Expectations

I have been thinking a lot recently about dating and expectations. I think I always had a lot of expectations about where my relationships were headed with my two previous boyfriends. I think men don't like to feel like there are expectations put on them. While in the past I migt have frowned on this, or just plain not understood it, I now understand it completely. I was seeing someone recently (I blogged earlier about how his time was up) and I felt like really early on he had expectations of me. I didn't like it. He was really nice and when he sent me an email last week asking why I went MIA I did feel poorly and thought maybe I should have taken my guy friend C's advice and warned him that his time had expired. The reason I didn't make any move to inform him of my decision was because we had only gone on three dates. Men do this to women all the time, so I see no reason why I shouldn't go MIA on a guy if he dosen't strike my fancy. Anyways, after I got his email I did respond with a short one saying that I thought he was really nice but wasn't really that into dating right now. I have become a lot like a guy in my thinking. I don't want to be tied down to anyone, I always think that there might be something better out there, ane I don't want a lot of expectations put on me. In turn, I don't have a lot of expectations for someone that I see. I got burned so badly in my last relationship that I can't take another dissapointment, hence the lack of expectations. I just want a guy to go out with occasionally (read: when it's convenient for my schedule), have fun with, do fun stuff with (concerts, sporting events, ect...not boom boom...that's for a committed relationship), and maybe buy me some stuff (but not expect anything in return expect the occasional pleasure of my company). I have always been the girliest girlie-girl, especially concerning relationships, but after the disaster of my last relationship, I've become one of the guys....

The Queen of Thrifty......

I have to say I am so excited. I have been sleeping like a baby for the past few weeks. It has been so refreshing. I love it. Can't get enough.

I am very excited about the pageant that I will advance to in the spring. I am motivated to do well and have the help, thanks to my awesome director, to have a shot at the crown. The most difficult part here is the $. Pageants aren't cheap. Goodness knows, just living on your own is not cheap. I have been thinking and thinking of what I can do to trim down my budget. I am doing the following:

1. I called the cable company and told them I think cable may be out of my budget for the time being. They offered me a new rate. I will save $15 a month. Not a whole lot, but every little bit helps, and it was paining me to think of getting rid of cable. I do love to have my TV watching time in the evenings.

2. Selling the navy blue formal gown I wore in a pageant. I'm asking $300 or best offer. Hopefully, it will sell soon!! Right now it's online but I may try a consignment store soon.

3. Raised my roommates rent $15. Of course, surprise, surprise....she dosen't have it this month. I told her next month will be OK to begin the increase.

4. I'm not keeping the house as warm as I could. It's still comfortable, just not super warm. I'm hoping I can keep my gas bill down that way.

5. This was NOT smartest, or best decision I could make: I deferred my loan for a year. Again, not the most finacially sound decision. I was paying $100 a month. When the year is up I will be done with pageants and hopefully the economy will be a little better, stuff will be a little cheaper, and maybe I'll have even gotten a raise.

6. I'm trying to build my babysitting clientelling base. Lately the clients I do have havne't needed me much. I'm guessing they are feeling as financially squeezed as I am.

Overall I just really hope things look up for me and that I can continue to pay my bills on time, do a few fun (inexpensive) activities with friends each month (like go to a movie), and get the things I need for the pageant.

Jingle All The Way

so the election did not turn out the way I had hoped. Oh well. I'm trying not to stress out about things that are out of my control. Instead, I'm getting real excited about Christmas! I love all things Christmas. It's kind of an obsession of mine. Jingle All The Way is the themem of the Christmas parade that I will be riding in. Can't wait!

I need to do better with my money. I am trying to get back on my feet after spending so much on the pageant. Agh.

I raised my roommates rent $15. I did this because she constantly uses my toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and so forth. I am very lucky in that she is only actually at the house about 2 days a week so I didn't make a big deal about it. If I asked her to contribute more (which I still might do) I couldn't really enforce that. Having her pay the $15 increase will at least cover some of the items that she mooches off of me. I know it's not a very charitable attitude, but I can't stand a mooch. Nothing in life is free!! Just like yesterday I blogged that now I know why they say fools rush in, I have also learned that nothing in life is free.

Day After Election Day

I was less than thrilled with the election results. I went out in voted, so I guess as they say "if you don't vote, don't complain", I've earned my right to complain. I'll spare my readers and just say GOD BLESS AMERICA. We need it.

I don't really see how the economy will improve, but I wish it would. I hope we all can look forward to beter times ahead. I know I really feel how bad the economy is. I've been struggling recently. I never go out to lunch anymore and it's a treat just to be able to afford V8 Splash fruit juice and orange juice. Buying dog food for the two big dogs about puts me out.

Recently I watched one of my favorite movies (one I can watch over and over), Sweet Home Alabama. I love almost anything with Reese in it. She's awesome! A line from the movie stood out to me, mostly because it made me think of my recent ex. Reese's character, Melanie, say: I'm not the love of your life, I'm just the first girl that climbed into the back of your truck".

I'm still out there dating and it's still something else. Not good or bad, I guess, just new. Both relationships I have had in my past moved very, very fast. Now I guess I know why they say "fools rush in" . This time around I've been taking it real, real slow, with everyone. I met a really nice guy, we'll call him George. We met at a dog park for the first time and had a nice time hanging out with our dogs. The second date was too a swanky restaurant, and the third date was dinner and a haunted house. He was nice, conversation was good, he had very good manners (opened all doors, so forth) which is extremely important to me. I still can't really think of a reason to see him again, however. Just because someone is a nice person and seems like they would treat you well isn't a reason to see more of them, at least not to my thinking. I'm looking for all that, plus more. By more I mean a strong physical attraction, chemistry, education, and goals. I think George is a great guy, just not for me. Better luck next time!

Quick Recap!

Life is good! I'm a Queen! The pageant was a success and I can't wait to compete in the pageant I will advance to in 2009. I am very, very lucky - my director is awesome. I am really looking forward to the year ahead. The first exciting event as Queen is riding in a Christmas parade. I absolutely can not wait. I am continuing with my community service and looking for ways to get more involved. Thursday I go to the Children's Hospital. I have been going on the first Thursday of every month. It's always a good time.

My best friend, J, told me three months out from the BIG BREAKUP I would start to feel better. For the most part this has been true. I still have bad days, days when everything still feels fresh and really stings. I'm having more and more good days. I'm still dating some - but I can't help wanting to act like "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days" just for giggles. I guess you would say I'm not taking dating very seriously :) I'm not being unkind though. It just seems like it's really hard to find what I want in a man so I'm just concentrating on the pageant for the time being.

Today is election day. This afternoon I'm leaving work early to go vote. Hopefully the line won't be too long. This will be the second time I have voted in a Presidental election. The election coverage is fascinating...I mean, it's so much drama! Like a pageant or soap opera. It's easy to get sucked into the election coverage and lose a few hours to the TV! Tomorrow is my big day!

Tomorrow is my big day! I must remember to 1) Be more peppy and enthused 2) Connect with the judges more and 3) Don't do anything weird with my left pinkie (Damn that pinkie!) Other than that I don't have much to say because I have so much on my mind and so much to do to prepare. So, in the spirit of pageants, I will leave you with this:

One of the best known "losers" at the Miss America Pageant, Delta competed as Miss Florida in the 1974 contest. She failed to make the top ten after performing her British dramatic recital about soon-to-be-executed Queen Anne Boleyn, with a Southern accent.

Later, she trademarked the role of former beauty queen as Suzanne Sugarbaker on the hit series, Designing Women, and starred in Filthy Rich and Love and Curses and All That Jazz.

Delta's other pageant titles included Miss Florida Flame, Miss Veteran's Day, Miss Orlando Action Princess, and Miss All-American Girl.

Eskimo Kisses

Today I'm wearing my ugg boots and I'm as snug as a bug in a rug. Good thing I wore them....we had a fire drill in our building this morning. It has been so cold! I've already had to turn on the heat in my house. Trinket gets cold so easily. I had forgotten about my ugg boots until last night, I wore them to take Trinket to the park. Then I went to WalMart for groceries and detergent. I am having AM over for dinner tomorrow so I wanted to get some yummy stuff! I have been buying ultra Cheer detergent and really think I like it the best. It smells very fresh. Only 4 days until my next pageant! I'm feeling fierce this time!

I Want Candy.....

I volunteer at the local children's hospital once a month. It's been a very rewarding experience and lots of fun. The kids are adorable, brave, special. It's amazing. Seeing all of kiddie games has brought back some happy memories. My favorite game as a child was Candyland. I would play it over and over. My favorite, of course, was Queen Frostine. See, I wanted a crown even back then! I have always and still do hate Monopoly. It never ends and there is no point, except it teaches kids to count. Agh.

It's almost the weekend! And time for me to get my new pageant dress fitted. I went with my favorite color, turquoise, this time......

My Scores

The pageant was fun! The best part was spending the weekend with B and listening to all of his hilarious comments! He is a riot! I got my scores back. I have some room for improvement, but really did well overall. I have a few things to work on before the next pageant. I am competing in another one on October 25. I can't wait - eyes on the crown!

This is the feedback I got from the director. He was a sweet young man!

Fran,

It was a pleasure to work with you and I will be happy to give you the scores.

Interview: 10, 7, 7
Swimsuit: 9, 7, 8
Evening gown: 9, 6, 8.5
On-stage: 9, 3, 3.8

Feedback: sound more enthused with onstage questions and have a presence/confidence, smile more, and one judge mentioned adding more padding to the top of your dress for a better fit.If you have any questions, let me know.

I'm about to get off work and go babysit...trying to make that money for my pageant!

Coincidence?

I think not....must be...a supernatural power at work....LOL....For those who know me, you know that my pet name for my ex was "Puffin". Holly Madison, star of the Girls Next Door, and Hugh Hefner's main girlfriend, also called Hef "Puffin". My Puffin and I split back in the summer and now it has come out that Holly Madison and Hefner parted ways. Hmm....

So Bad I Can Taste It....

2008 has been a rough year. Things are looking up and I'm excited for the holidays (well, sort of) and for 2009! AF and I are already thinking this year is the year we're going all out for New Year's!! We've done a lot of fun events as Frashleys (we do Halloween like nobody's business) but we've never done a New Years before.

This year at the holidays I would like to treat myself to a Michael Kors bag. I've loved Michael for years and got to go into his store while I was in Atlanta. He's amazing. These are what have me drooling....
Only 3 and it will be Saturday....the day of my pageant! I've been going to a body sculpt class 2X a week and dieting as well. I have an awesome metallic purple bikini. I'm getting a custom spray tan tomorrow. There have been so many preparations so I'm excited for it to finally get here!
I missed True Blood on Sunday so AM taped it for me...I can't wait to see it! If you've never seen it (and like vampires like I do) be sure to check it out!

Throwback...

I don't know why this is on my mind today....Lisa Frank....I had so many Lisa Frank notebooks, binders, folders, stickers, and pencils in elementry school. I remember her white unicorns used to remind me of my horse, Dawn. I loved that horse. She was just the best horse ever. Her yellow dogs actually look a lot like my Morgan. I guess I didn't know then that there was a big blonde dog in my future! I've been feeling a lot better about the future now. I think I have a lot to look forward to.

My pageant is in only 5 days! Aghh!! I'm so ready though! I have my eyes on the prize!

My Wish List

Cinderella ring $260 Fetish Ring $220

While I was in Atlanta I went into Swarovski. It was heaven. I'm obsessed now. I just won't be happy until I have something from there. I would really like one of their rings (very reasonably priced) or a figurine for my desk. I know figurines are a little old lady, but I am so old lady already, so I won't mind having one. I currently have my Halloween figurines on my desk. Nothing but Swarovski will do! Here's my wish list! I must add that they had a pair of Puffins and seeing those was like taking a bullet. My nickname for my ex was Puffin (not after Hefner, I called this one Puffin long before the Girls Next Door aired on television).

Additionally, I have a new favorite show. HBO's True Blood. It's amazing. More on that later. I have to skate on out of here, I'm having AM over tonight for dinner!!
Poinsetta $95, the birds are gorgeous but are around the $1,000 price point

No Sympathy.....oh and an update.....

I have returned from a long and wild work week in Atlanta. Our class of 2008 graduated and the ceremony was really, really nice. We had a reception immediately following and it turned out really nice as well. The food was to die for. Chocolate covered strawberries, cheesesticks, coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktial, cheese and crackrs, fruit, and more desserts (and more food I forgot to mention I'm sure). There was a pasta action station that looked really good but sadly I was making sure everyone got on their shuttle to the airport so I didn't have a chance to try it out.

There were several favorites in this group of scholars. I was sad to see them go and was inspired by them. I really am blessed with an amazing job.

I celebrated the end of the week (and year...we don't go back to ATL until January) with my friend Joy that lives in Atanta. She is a friend from home and we've been friends for years, although it has been ages since we had seen each other. We had so much fun, it's always good to catch up with old friends, especially over a few glasses of wine. All I will say about the wine is that I had the worst hangover I've had in probably 5 or 6 years. Ouch.

On another note.....this blog is very private and very cryptic so I write what I want to without having to censor too much. To this tune, I do not feel any sympathy for a person that is in their 30s and still continues to think of themselves as a victim and take no responsibility for their actions. When you do something you have to face the consequences. I have made poor decisions and had to face the repurcussions before. At some point you have to realize that it's not everyone else's fault....you are an adult and you made this decision. No one made you do this. Me choosing to go my own separate way is a consequence to YOUR ACTIONS not something I did because I am so cold hearted.

Fill In The Blanks....

One of my favorite blogs to read is that of Florida based wedding photographer, Scarlett Lillian. Check her out at http://scarlettlillian.net her stuff is amazing! I still dream of having my fantasy wedding one day! Here's hoping!

I got this fill in the blank from her blog....

I AM … Fabulous.
I WANT… to win my pageant in October
I HAVE … the best friends anyone could ask for
I KEEP … my yard looking decent
I WISH I COULD … stop thinking about the past so much
I HATE … when people don't know there, their, and they're and your and you're
I FEAR … I'm losing my looks as I'm starting to look older
I HEAR … the ping ping sound that I got a text a lot...when did talking on the phone become to passe?
I DON’T THINK …. I'm going to workout today
I REGRET … several things
I LOVE … my chihuahua Trinket, she's adorable!
I AM NOT … perfect
I DANCE … like someone who took dance, because I did
I SING … to my dog Trinket
I NEVER … intentionally mean to lead anyone on, although I think it's happened
I RARELY … drink coffee anymore.
I CRY WHEN I WATCH … Steel Magnolias
I AM NOT ALWAYS … friendly
I HATE THAT … I'm so shy and softspoken sometimes
I’M CONFUSED ABOUT … love.
I NEED … a new watch
I SHOULD … save more money

Sour Puss

Last night I made a homemade meal (which is unusual for me...I live on eating out and takeout) and then decided to get my exercise in. As I prepare for the pageant I'm trying to workout every single day. I took my beloved companion Trinket on a 40 minute walk to a park near our house. On the way back we got caught in a violent rainstorm. Trinket does not take kindly to getting wet. The look on her face was priceless. I think it took the phrase "sour puss" to a whole new level. I only wish I had taken a picture. A wet chihuahua is an unhappy chihuahua. Trinket was fuming.

Champagne Wishes!

This is my new blog! I decided I need a new blog because I'm in a new chapter of my life. The biggest change is that I'm single for the first time in 5 years. I've just started dating again...I've been going on first dates for the first time since I was 19 years old and it's been a wild ride. The biggest change I've notice about dating at 24 v. dating at 19 is that I don't waste any of my time seeing someone if I don't like something about them. At 19 I didn't really know what I did and did not like and it was very easy for me to feel like I was in some way obligated to someone...not any more. I also don't get attached quickly either. I really stand back and observe the person. The first date is really just an introduction and nothing more. It has been my observation that by the third or fourth date you start to actually see a little bit of the actual person. I actually don't really like dating. I think guys like dating, but for me it's not particularly fun. I still really miss my old flame and all the fun times we had, and just having a steady boyfriend that I was comfortable with instead of going out on dates with new people. But I guess if I'm not going to be single the rest of my life (not that there is anything wrong with that!) then I have to get out there.....

I'm very excited about fall, about football season, a pageant I'm competing in, and seeing some old friends soon!
