A Haircut is a Holiday

I got about four inches cut off my hair yesterday and it feels amazing! I love when the shampoo girl takes a really long time to shampoo your hair and it's like a scalp massage. Since I'm about to be working in Atlanta (including Sunday!) the haircut is the closest thing I'm having to a holiday for awhile.

I'm not really that pale, it's the flash on my camera, it washes everyone out.

This is me this morning before work.

Tomorrow I'm going to the wedding of a lifelong friend and I'm really excited! After that I'm ATL bound....

Have a good weekend!

The Fever...

I think haircut fever is going around. EVERYONE is cutting their hair and now I'm itching to cut mine too. My hair is long right now and it's really annoying me. It makes me hot and the ends look ragged from using a flatiron. I'm going in Saturday to get a cut and get my color retouched. I want to cut off a lot, but probably won't. I did a few years ago and I hated it! I was miserable until it grew out and it didn't look right until it did. However, that was a bad haircut and it wasn't from the person that does my hair currently. I'm flirting with the idea....

Lauren Conrad's new cut...

Lauren Davis Santo Domingo. She is a socailite and is in my favorite magazine, VOGUE, a lot. She always had long hair like mine and has gone short recently.

I'm flirting with the idea of highlights again too...
I'm not so sure about the highlights. I think I'm happy enough with what I've got.

What do you think?

I've Been Bad.....

I think all the stress of my job hunt and looking into returning to school caught up with me. After a nice relaxing weekend, I didn't feel relaxed enough. I let myself lose control on Victoria's Secret website. Victoria's Secret clothes are some of my favorite clothes. They are having a fantastic sale right now, so go check it out for yourself!

I wanted something new and comfortable to sleep in so I got three of these.

This says "Peace, Love and Gamecocks" - it's from their Collegiate Line.

This has a built in shelf bra and I got it in dark purple because I already have a green dress.

I'm excited about trying the All New and Imporved Miracle Bra. I will write a review of it once I've tried it. I used to love VS Air Bra, it gave really good cleavage, but they only had it for a short time and haven't had it in a few years. I've always thought that when I can comfortably fit it into my budget, I'd like to get tasteful (not oversize cartoon boob) implants and never give padded pushup bras a second glance. Of course, there are things I'd like to get first, like a new car and a house, but implants are hopefully on the horizon.

I hope all of you have a good Tuesday...is it only Tuesday?!

Happy Memorial Day...

I'm taking a break from all the toxic (I can't hear that word without the Britney song playing in my head) stress of the job hunt/school decision and enjoying myself! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day!

I just don't know?

Remember in My Best Friend's Wedding how Cameron Diaz sings "I just don't know what to do with myself" karaoke? That's sort of my theme song right now. I really do not know what to do! Some background information, I'm losing my job in September when the grant that funds the project I work on runs out. I've been looking and looking, seriously looking, for a job and I've found nothing so far. It is beyond frustrating!
I have a Bachelors Degree (in Tourism) from the University of South Carolina, but it's not helping me find a job. My experience is as an administrative assistant in public health research. I don't want to work in hospitality and tourism b/c in my opinion resort or restaurant management is a job with a bad quality of life. You are overworked and underpaid. The hours are terrible. Believe me, I've worked in a hotel and in a few restaurants in the past. I guess I would say I made a poor choice for my undergrad because that industry isn't the right fit for me. My advice to someone who is graduating high school and beginning college is "Get it right the first time!" I made all As and Bs at USC, but my focus wasn't on my major or having a career. I cared only about fun, fun, and more fun and spending every second that I could with my ex boyfriend. I would bring Vogue magazine to class and read it by putting it inside my text book because the classes didn't interest me. I knew then that I was not in the right major, but I didn't want to lose any credits by transferring into a different program. I didn't want to admit that I made made a wrong choice and that I had wasted time or money. I only wanted to finish so I could have more fun and spend more time with said boyfriend. In retrospect, I wish I had been more career minded and focused in college.

Right now I just don't know what my next step should be. I've considered going back to school, but I am not really sure about the expense and I DON'T want more debt. I've always wanted to be a nurse (why didn't I stick with nursing - my original major?!) and my Mom said if I want to get an ADN (2 year nursing degree) I can live with her while I do it. I'm considering it. I've lived by myself and on my own for a long time so I'm not sure how I feel about moving back in a parent.

I guess I have more job searching to do and some serious thinking to do....

This weekend I'm taking a break from all this stress and heading to Charleston to see a dear friend. We've been friends since I was in high school and I can't wait to see her!!

First Blog Award & something I thought was cool....

I got my first ever blog award! Emily at From the Land of Cotton gave me the One Lovely Blog Award! Thanks Emily - I hope we run into each other and get to meet in person soon! Emily and I have never met in person, only over blogs, but we live in the same neighborhood.

Here are the rules:

1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.

2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

So, without further ado, here are 15 blogs that I have newly discovered (newly in my opinion is the last 2 or 3 months). I apologize in advance if you have already received this award, but consider yourself that much more loved if you have :-)

If you haven't checked out these blogs, make sure you do:

(I couldn't think of 15 I have newly found so I went with a few new favorites...)

Army Brat Bride

Bronzed Beauty

The View from My Shoes -I love this girls Fab Find of the Week and I'm totally going to get a body pillow soon! I've loved everything else she recommends so I'm sure I'll love this too.

Now for my post today:
I've been really into contour cream since I spent the day with my friend that does makeup for her photography (she took my photo on the right hand side) and pageants. I've been playing around a lot with shading and highlighting and it's amazing what I've learned how to do. I wanted to show these photographs I found of celebrities that the late great makeup artist Kevin Aucoin made up to look like other celebrities. It is unreal. Kevin Aucoin made a small appearance as himself on Sex and the City in the episode "The Real Me". This is the one where Carrie is fashion roadkill. I love this episode and season 4 is one of my favorite seasons. I just love the early days of SATC.

This is Lisa Marie made up to look like Marilyn Monroe.

Courtney Love made into Jean Harlow. This one is really good!

The Bachelorette....

I'm really excited about a new season of The Bachelorette. I don't think Jillian is the prettiest girl, she is sort of plain, but she seems like she is very nice and personable and genuine. She wasn't my favorite on the last season of The Bachelor (Melissa was), but of course I'm hoping she meets Mr. Right on this new season. I would like to be in her shoes, there are some good looking men on this season!
I really really like Jake. I'd like to meet someone that looks like this soon.

Juan is very attractive, but I think he's into himself. He's going to be a jerk - mark my words. I can spot them!
Another thing, is it just me or does this show get more lustful every season? It seems like they are showing a lot of physical stuff these days. Maybe they do it for ratings, but I can do without it. And although I wouldn't mind being around all those good looking men, we all know by now that physical attraction alone dosen't amount to a hill of beans!

I'm excited to see what is in store this season!

The Latest and Greatest....

My new salt and pepper shakers. I love collecting salt and pepper shakers, although I realize that's something a 90 year old woman would enjoy. I like how when I go somewhere, I can buy a set as a souvineer to remember my trip, and they are somewhat useful. I mean, it's better than a t-shirt that says something like "My Friend Went To California and all I got was this silly T-shirt" or "Someone in Hawaii Loves Me". I got these from e-bay to mentally prepare for the Watermelon Festival Pageant.
This is me and one of my favorite co-workers in my office today. He is our office assistant and the nicest guy you will ever meet. I think he is such an attractive young man. I am sporting my Wal-Mart necklace!

My Mini Vacation and Wal-Mart

I feel like I spent my mini vacation in Wal-Mart! I decided that I wanted to start a garden. I had no idea how much work this would take. It took a lot to prepare for planting in my backyard and get everything I needed. I am happy to say after no less than 3 trips to Wal-Mart and 1 trip to a Feed and Seed store I am the proud owner of a garden. I'll post a picture as soon as there is something to post a picture of. Hopefully my efforts weren't in vain and something will grow. I planted watermelon (to prepare myself for the Watermelon Festival Pageant) and pumpkins (to use for decorating come fall).

Remember the movie where Natalie Portman lives in Wal-Mart? I thought about that movie this weekend. It's one of my favorites.

I went through a stage, when the economy was better and I had more spending money, when I woudln't shop at Wal-Mart unless I absolutley had to for something. Of course, way before that my old flame and I used to go on "Wal-Mart Dates". Oh come on, you know you've been on a Wal-Mart date. I got all kinds of things at Wal-Mart this weekend. I got a really cute necklace I'll post a picture of and some really cute panties. The old me would't have been caught in a necklace or panties from Wal-Mart, but now I don't care.

This is me and Trink at my Mom's farm on our vacation. My makeup is melting down my face because it's so blistering hot.

Me and Trinket tonight. This is what I look like without a stitch of makeup on. Yikes!

Mini Vacation....

I'm leaving work early today and beginning my weekend! I'm going to stay at my Mom's for a few days. Tomorrow I'm hanging out with my photographer friend (she did my headshot you see to right of this text) and learning how to do makeup. She is super sweet and I can't wait to learn some tricks of the trade. I'm also going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, which I sort of hate, and I'm going to ask them how much it would cost to bleach my teeth. I want mine to be whiter. I drink sweet tea like it is going out of style and I think it's staining my teeth. There is nothing I hate more than seeing gross teeth. I hope this dosen't sound mean, but when I made that appearance at the Crawfish Festival a few weeks ago I saw a lot of bad teeth. I always pay attention to teeth and I don't think I could date someone with bad teeth, even though I know that is sort of superficial. Friday I'm doing some stuff around the house/farm to help my Mom and other than that I have no plans. It's rare that I have no plans and I hope to be at the lake.

I love Angelina's makeup here. She always looks beautiful.
These photographs are from W Magazine, July 2005. Photographs by Steven Klein. Whoever the stylist was for these did an amazing job.

I love this bright fuschia pink Angelina has on in this one. I want to get something this color for the Watermelon Pageant.
Have a good rest of the week and weekend!

The Weekend in Pictures....

I went to a bunch of graduation parties this weekend and had so much fun!

Me and my #1 guy friend.

Here we are "smiling with our eyes" - we learned it from Tyra!

Looking pretty, this is when we were still inside enjoying the AC.

Some guy was acting like Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferral in A Night at the Roxbury and jumping around dancing and pointing to me. He would not stop pointing at me even though I gave him no attention. I couldn't believe it! I continued to ignore him and then when he was walking past me he said "I'm coming back for you" What?!

My darling friend and her man. He's a country boy. I like that! He made her a garden, how sweet is that?

I am not a fan of NASCAR... not at all. This is harsh and unusally mean for me, but I call it TRASHCAR. I think driving in left hand circles is stupid and pointless. And because I used to date an amatuer driver, I've spent more than enough time at the track. In fact, I am convinced that I have hearing loss from being in the pit with no earplugs. I didn't know then it would be a good idea to wear them. My then boyfriend should have been a gentleman and provided me with some. This weekend was the big race in Darlington (which I will never attend) and I did get a kick out of the Cheez-It car winning. I love Cheez-Its. Those are some good little crackers! I love anything cheese flavored, Cheez-its, Cheetos, Sour Cream and Cheddar Potato Chips....So, congratuations to Mark Martin, who hasn't won at Darlington in 16 years, and to Cheez-It!
If I never go to a race again it will be too soon!

Mother's Day 2009

I'm sitting here watching The Step Mom on abcFamily. I really want to turn it off, because it's such a sad movie, but I'm sucked in (even though I've seen it a million times) and I just love Julia Roberts. I have every intention of finishing this post, going to get food, and going out to the pool.

Today is Mother's Day...Happy Mother's Day to my Mom (who is sick in bed so we're celebrating later in the week) and all the other Mamas out there!

Now that I am a single working woman (and single Mama to my precious Trinket), I have so much admiration and respect for Mom! She was a single Mom with zero and I do mean zero help from my biological father, and she made a lot of sacrifices so that I never had to feel the strain of that. She worked really, really hard to finish college and event got her Masters! Even though it is from CLEMSON - yuck! I had to throw that in - Clemson is the big rival of the school I graduated from USC (Go Cocks!).

This is one of my favorite stories about myself. My Mom was going to Tri County Tech, where I went for several years as well after high school and before USC, and she would take me with her and I would go to day care at the child development center there. When she first took me to the daycare, she told them my name (Frances) and dropped me off. They misunderstood her and thought she had said my name was Princess. They called me Princess for weeks and I loved it! I was not going to correct them. One day she came to get me and asked for Frances and they said,
oh that little girl isn't Frances, that's Princess" We still laugh about that one.

This is me and Mom on vacation in Florida, Thanksgiving 1994.

Happy Mother's Day!

TGIF.....

I've had a headache for days now. Days! I've made an appointment with my eye doctor. My eyes feel like sandpaper and are bloodshoot, not to mention I haven't been seeing very well. Must be time to update my prescription. I must have blown out my eyes staying up past my bedtime to read Twilight. What a nerd!

One of my BFFs just had an interview in Columbia and hopefully she'll get good news about the position soon. If she does, she'll be staying with me for a few weeks. I can hardly wait! I'm not a roommate person at all, but we will have so much fun until she gets into her own place. We've lived together before, at USC, and I can't wait to have her around to do stuff with every day after work.

Oh I loved undergrad. It was too much fun. That hair color on the other hand, what was I thinking?!

Hope all of you have a fantastic Mother's Day weekend!

Makeup...

does so much. I don't look like my fancy headshot to the right of this post all the time! I look pale and washed out like everyone else does without makeup. That's why I was delighted (but not in a mean way) to see that Gisele looks like everyone else without makeup. Her body is still to die for, but her face looks like a regular person, more or less, without makeup. I love Gisele, she would look like a million dollars dressed in a paper bag.

Gisele without makeup.

I love this dress. I've been wanting a Maxi dress so bad, but my Mom says if I want to meet guys I need to wear jeans or show my legs :-D

I hope to meet a man that looks like Tom Brady soon. I L-O-V-E that he is taller than Gisele. I'm not superficial and I've been out with short guys and it didn't bother me, but I swear the last time I tried to go out with a short guy (Great Dane guy) it made him uncomfortable that I was taller. I'm 5'10" by the way.

Have a good Wednesday

Breaking Dawn and Weddings...

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't read Breaking Dawn yet and want to, don't read this post.

I just started reading Breaking Dawn last night. I'm imagining the most beautiful wedding stuff for the wedding that is planned. Of course, you know SOMETHING is going to happen, I just don't know what yet. Ugh, it bugs me that Bella is not a girlie girl and is not into planning her wedding. What girl dosen't care about planning a wedding? I have tons of wedding ideas and I love wedding stuff. I don't, however, love Bridezillas. I used to work in sales in a Hilton property and I have gotten my share of Bridezillas to last me a lifetime! Bridezillas make everyone around them suffer. My Mom would slap me {and rightfully so} if I talked to her the way I've heard some of these Bridezillas {particularly one that I used to take gymnastics with really stands out in my mind b/c she tramatized me so much} speak to their mothers. I can't stand to watch the TV show Bridezillas because it annoys me so much.

Rings I like:

Wedding dresses I like:

I like this cake:

When I was with The Snake I wanted to get married at my friend Joe's house, but I'm no longer with The Snake and Joe sold this house and moved to Baltimore. I love this house.

I'm ready for the work day to be over so I can get back to Breaking Dawn...
