Things are looking up....

I have gotten a job offer! I'm so pleased, I've been working and working since Feb. on my resume, cover letter, applying, interviewing, and praying everyday that something will come through. The twist in this is that I had to put them off and ask them for a few days to think about the job offer. I have had 2 interviews with another agency and I think they are about to me make an offer. This other job is higher paying and room to move up. The offer I have gotten isn't bad at all, but the salary I've been offered is at the top of the pay band (state or gov't jobs have salaries in pay bands) so there is not room for a raise, ever. In addition, it's kind of a dead end position. I hope I find out something about the other position soon and I will let you ladies know as soon as I do!

That's mostly my big news. Other than that my best friend/roommate and I had a friend spend the weekend and had a party on Saturday. I'm still tired from it. I had reconnected with a guy that I went out with a few times in the past. The story with this is that last October we went out a few times. He seemed like a really really good guy and like he would treat a girl very well. He took me on a really nice dinner date and also to a haunted house, which I thought was a fun and cute date. I liked him, but it seemed pretty clear he liked me a lot more than I liked him. He started calling and texting me a lot and wanting to see a lot of me and wanted to come to one of my pageants and it kind of freaked me out. I felt skittish and wasn't ready for all that since I was still not over my ex (the guy I dated for 5 years and had the bad breakup with).

I guess it wasn't the nicest or most ladylike thing to do, but I went MIA on him. I figured it was fine to do, because guys have done that to me or my friends a millions times and I thought there was no need for closure since we only went out about 3 or so times. He sent me an email saying he really liked me and asking what happened. I responded to the email and told him that I wasn't over my ex or ready for dating. That was early Novemember right after Halloween.

He has kept in touch with me a little bit on facebook here and there and a few weeks ago when I was thinking about nursing school I sent him a facebook message to ask him if I could ask him some questions about the program here because he is going to school for nursing. He wrote back and said to call him so I did. This got communication going between us.

Right before I went to the beach A and I had an ordeal involving us coming in from a late dinner and not being able to find my black lab. We didn't even have flashlight to look for him but we could hear him barking so we knew he wasn't far. We finally figured out he was under the house. I didn't know what to do so I called this guy. He came right over (he lives close to me) and got my black lab out from under the house. I thought that was so so sweet and I was very appreciative so I invited him over for dinner the following week.

I made lasagne and A also had a guy over for dinner that night. The four of us all had a good time. At the end of the night we shared a kiss. At this point I was thinking that I'm ready for a good guy and he seems like a good guy. I invited him to come to our party Saturday night. Friday night he texted me and we texted back and forth some. He ended with saying that he would see me tomorrow (Saturday).

So Saturday night rolls around and we have some friends over and what do you know, he's a no call no show. So, we will never speak of him again. If you've seen the movie The Village then you remember "those of whom we do not speak". That's how I refer to old flames, "those of whom we do not speak" LOL. If I hear from him I will not pick up the phone or respond in any way.

Between my teenage boyfriend and the guy I dated for 5 years I dated a guy, K, that would do stuff like stand me up all the time (or there was that time he took me to see Phantom of the Opera and got tanked causing him to run into parked cars with his new Expedition leaving the Peace Center). Even when he did stuff like that I would be angry for awhile but then just get over it and act like nothing had happened. I would always overlook his behavior because I was a teenager and fresh off the farm, but no more. All I can really say about being stood up this time is....NEXT!

How is it Monday already?!

So Much Catching Up To Do....

I had an awesome 25th birthday! God has blessed me so much to have such great family and friends. It was one of my best birthdays ever! I had been feeling funny about turning 25 {silly, right?}, but now I really don't. I'm feeling pretty good about life right now. I've had a TON of interviews {which I am very thankful for} and one in particular that really went well so I will keep you all posted. There may be something on the horizon...

Myrtle Beach was great and I went to all of my favorite places, Sam's Corner, Peaches Corner...

This is girl's night out at the beach.

I'm thinking about doing a prelim in the Miss USA circuit on August 1st. I haven't decided for sure yet. I'm waiting to see how my eBay auction turns out, I'm being much more frugal with my $ these days. I'm selling a gorgeous barely worn pageant gown to pay for my entry fee as to not disrupt my savings (and for me just having savings is a feat).

There might also be a blast from the past on the romantic front...more later if that pans out ;)

I was tagged by Veronica @ Bronzed Beauty (I love her blog yall!):

Vacation All I Ever Wanted....{& a product love}

I will start out with a product review. I haven't done one in awhile. Right now I am loving Noxema. That's right, old school, middle school style Noxema. I had beautiful skin when I was in middle school and high school. I never had problems with breakouts until I was in my 20s. This past fall it got really agrivated, and I had to go to a dermatologist because I was having a lot of problems with breakouts and super sensitive skin. I don't know if I've had a shift in hormones or what lately, but my skin has gone back to being super clear and I'm loving it. I hope it stays this way!

I like Noxema because it doesn't overdry your skin (like so much stuff out there) and I feel like it really helps get makeup off (and I wear a lot). And I just love the smell because it reminds me of middle school :-D

When I was having more problems a few months back, I was loving Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash. I still keep this around in case I need it, but for right now it is just a tad on the harsh side since I'm not having any breakouts. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I won't need to go back to it. I would recommend this to anyone who is having {or should we say suffering, because it is suffering when your skin acts up} a flare up.

Tomorrow I'm leaving with one off my BFFs for a B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y trip to Myrtle Beach {or as we say Dirty Myrtle, old joke LOL}. I turn 25 on the 19th!! I'm so excited for our trip and I know we'll have plenty of good times {and good eating, ahem, see the photo of Sam's Corner}.

Why else am I happy today? Exactly one year ago today I found out {I found a receipt for flowers that did NOT go to me} my beloved boyfriend of five years was creeping on me. It was a really awful time in my life and the next few months were not fun to say the least. I can thank him for a great diet though, I lost about 10 lbs in two weeks because I had no appetite and food made me sick to my stomache. A year later I've gained it all back now that food is good again. I'm so happy that I've come so far in just a year, from thinking I had lost the greatest thing that ever happened to me, to being so happy that I discovered his true colors. I am so glad to be free of him! I'm enjoying my life and without him holding me back I can meet Mr. Right.

I had another interview yesterday and I felt like it went well, so here's hoping I get a new job for my birthday!

I probably won't post again until next week since I won't be back in town until Monday night. From MB I'm going home to spend about two days with the family and make a quick trip to the dentist {who is cute by the way}. Hope all of you have a great week!

Back on track....

Yesterday I made it back to the gym. I feel a lot better about myself. I did 20 minutes on the stationary bike followed by weights. The sheer excitement of having my BFF A as my roommate again is wearing off, so hopefully I'll be able to stay on the right path. I worked really hard to get ready for Miss South Carolina (United States system) in March and I don't want to lose what I've worked for!

It's hard when you've been by yourself for a year and a half and all of a sudden you have a buddy to do everything with again 24/7. All we want to do is have fun - what a "problem" to complain about, right?! Don't get me wrong, I have other girlfriends, but usually I just see them on the weekends. A also buys tons of yummy treats and junk that I normally don't eat. Yikes! I don't have a big sweet tooth and just don't buy a lot of the stuff that is now in our kitchen. Oh well, if that's my biggest complaint it can't be too bad, right?

I was reading gossip magazines and Gisle is expecting. She is so beautiful it makes me sick!

My 2nd interview yesterday went pretty well. I felt like I went in there with my game face on. The department chair interviewed me and some of the questions he asked me where not what I expected. He asked me if I went to college here and I said that I did and that I really enjoyed it. He asked me what group of students I hung out with. I thought that was a little strange as a question. I told him that I had a really serious beau and when I wasn't with him I was always with a few close girlfriends that also went to school here. Then he asked if we went to football games, of course we did (lots of them), and I didn't mind the question, it just wasn't what I expected. He asked me a few of the ususal interview questions and I answered as best I could, so we will see.

Hope all of you ladies (& PR, my one male reader) have a great weekend!

Outfit....

I haven't done an outfit post in awhile so I thought I would do one today. Plus, I like what I'm wearing today, even though I never wear this shirt. I got the idea for outfit posts from Maegan, I love her blog y'all! And her clothes are awesome. So here you go, today's outfit.

My yellow shirt was made just for me by my wonderful Mama!
Jeans: Paige (my favorite jeans in the world)
Silver Bangles: taken from Ashley this morning (wore them last night too)
Earrings: faux diamond from a little gift shop that used to be in Pendleton, SC
Shoes: 9-West wedges
Bad: Coach, I've had it for years

Tomorrow I have a 2nd interview for a job here at the university I currently work for. I'm really excited that I got called for a 2nd interview and I really hope it goes well. I'm just feeling too hesitant about returning to school right now. I have become so accustomed to being on my own and able to support myself. I do hope to one day go to school to become a nurse. We will see. If you will, say a prayer that the interview tomorrow goes well and that they will offer me a job!!!

The group get together last night went better than I expected. I have met this guy once before, which was set up by a mutual friend who is the matchmaker in this situation. I liked him a lot the first time I met him, but wasn't sure if he was feeling me. He is very cute and funny as well. Last night we had hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at the matchmakers house after work. I wore huge oversize silver earrings, silver bangles, the jeans I'm wearing above, wedges, and a really pretty turquoise top. At the end of the evening the guy walked me to my car and asked me if I would like to go out "just the two of us, without everyone else". I said that I would like to go out without the chaperones. He asked me for my # so I'll post an update if there is any news to report.

Quick Highs and Lows...

4th of July was great! I went to one of my BFFs houses, which is on beautiful Lake Keowee. For anyone like me that grew up on Lake Hartwell, which sometimes feels like mud wrestling or swimming in a mud hole instead of a lake, Lake Keowee is a real treat. It has the cleanest lake water I have ever seen, and the huge houses aren't bad eye candy either. I wore my Old Navy 4th of July bikini, but forgot to take any pictures all weekend long! That is so not like me, but I'm always the person being obnoxious with her camera and taking a million pictures (Lindsay mentioned over the weekend she didn't have very many pictures of herself pregnant {her son is now 4 and such a ladies man LOL} and I was like "Oh My Gosh, I have all of your baby showers documented on film and organized, I will have to send them to you!"). I guess I was just having too much fun to bother with my camera this weekend. This is Jessica Simpson (again, love her hair) in her 4th of July bikini, just so you get the idea.

Isn't that body inspiring? I have my gym clothes packed and I'm going back to the gym today to get back on track.

Friday night I got a call about another interview (yeah!). I will be interviewing with the USC PD, for an opening as an administrative assistant. I have to go over there today to drop off some documents and take a few tests. One of the documents they requested was a copy of all diplomas, high school, college, and otherwise. This would be okay, except that I designed a fancy frame for my college diploma and had a framer frame it, and it is done in such a way that it was near impossible to extract the diploma from said frame. It took lots of sweat, several broken nails (ouch!), and cracking open a tool case to finally reach the diploma. And just so you don't think I'm an inbecile, I did try to make a Xerox of the diploma while still IN the frame, but the reflectioin from the glass on the frame messes up the copy. It took a lot of tape to repair the back of the frame once I made the copy and got the diploma back in correctly. It's all good now, I have my diploma back in it's frame, hanging on my wall in my office, and I have the copy of the diploma in my pulvarized little fingers to take over to the police department at 3 today.

Tomorrow I have a group date with someone I was set up with about two weeks ago. It will be the second time I see the guy, and while I really liked him, I don't have a ton of expectations for tomorrow because I'm unsure that he has much interest in me. I mean, I have both read and seen He's Just Not Into You {and gotten a lot of advice from a bloggie friend :-D}, and I would not want to mistake uninterest for shyness. I'm feeling pretty chill about the whole thing, either he likes me or he dosen't, so I'm just going to go and we will see. And you know I'm a fan of the Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti Stanger, and she says "Wether you are 18 or 80, there is always another guy around the corner". Plus, right now dating is really having to take a backseat to everything else I have going on, decisions about going back to school for nursing or finding a new job and so forth. I will keep you ladies posted on how it goes tomorrow, because reading about someone else's dates is much less painful and more entertaining than actually going on dates :-D

Happy 4th!!

I won't be turning my computer on again until Monday when I get back to work. The university is observing the 4th of July holiday with a 3 day weekend so I have tomorrow off. Since I always seem to be pressed for time these days (helping my boss with a grant proposal) I will leave you with a list.

1. Chinese food is so good! Even better when your boss treats you because you are working through lunch. Sweet and Sour Chicken is my choice.

2. I have not had a watch since my freshman year of college when I lost my beloved Tinkerbell watch. I wore my Tinkerbell watch all through high school and I loved it. Yes, I was getting too old for a Tinkerbell watch, but it was so pretty, and it was little and I have little arms so it's hard to find a small watch I like. I went into Hand Picked, a cute little store on Devine St., and found a watch I love. It's not expensive, it is made by Geneva, and it has a white face with lime green numbers and a white leather band trimmed in lime green. It's very summery and I can't beleive it took me 6 years to replace my Tinkerbell watch. I'm so happy now that I have a watch again I can't believe I waited so long!

3. Trinket and I are traveling for the 4th. We will be going to my Mom's farm and to my friend Lindsay's on Lake Keowee for a cookout and fireworks. I can't wait! Oh, and I got a red white and blue American Flag bikini from Old Navy to wear.

4. A and I are flirting with the idea of a trip to New Orleans this fall. Neither one of us has ever been and we are dying to go. We also want to visit the Bed and Breakfast where Steel Magnolias was filmed. The house that is Shelby's parents house in Steel Magnolias (where she is at the beginning of the film and has her wedding) is open as a B&B and hasn't been changed since the film was made. I will post the link later.

5. I got a callback for a 2nd interview about the job I interviewed for earlier this week. Things are looking up!!

Happy Fourth of July to you all!!!
